The Mellon Foundation Grant directly supports students in securing and succeeding in internships, ensuring equitable access to these transformative experiences.

 Mellon Foundation Grant Benefits: 

  • Paid Internships: Gain real-world experience through paid internships, mostly at non-profit and community organizations.

How can I apply?

The College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) welcomes applications for grant-supported humanities and humanistic social sciences internships. for the Mellon Foundation Grant will open on April 9 for the summer and fall of 2025. Please apply no later than June 6 for full consideration for summer applications. Applications for the Fall will close on September 10.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Applicants must be in good academic standing. Preference will be given to eligible students who have reached junior or senior academic standing. Undergraduate students must have a declared major in one of the following to be eligible for an internship funded by the Mellon Foundation.

How many hours will my internship be and how much will I earn?

During academic terms, internships are 12 hours a week for 12 weeks, and pay $3,000. In summer, they're 24 hours a week for 10 weeks, and pay $5,000. That comes out to $20 per hour.

What is the selection process?

Awardees will be pre-reviewed by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office for eligibility. Internship supervisors will select interns from eligible applicants. All applicants will be informed of placement decisions.
