Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in the University of Memphis Language Fair. Below is information about how to register for this unique regional event! If you have any questions about this process, we are happy to help. Please email us at flfair@memphis.edu.

  • For teachers or administrators who have already registered students for in-person events:
    • Make sure to email the List of Students Attending in Person by Friday, March 28 and bring physical copies of the In-person Student Participant Forms for all participating students on the day of the Fair.

Please note: 

  • Only teachers or administrators may complete online registration forms. 
  • Students and parents may not complete online registration forms.  
  • Only students who are earning high school credit for a world language may participate in this event.   


How do I register my students for Pre-Fair Events?  

     (2D Art, Classics Cultural Kaleidoscope Project, Infographic, Latin Translation, Poetry Writing and Video Skit)

How do I register my students for In-Person Event Participation? 

     (Costumes, Crafts, Culture Bowl, Greek and Roman History and Mythology Quiz, Greeting Cards, Dance, Music – Group, Music – Solo, Poetry Recitation, Research Project, Speech [Foreign Language and Heritage/Native Speaker], and Vocabulary Quizzes)

     We have attempted to streamline this process as much as possible while adhering to the UofM policy on Participation of Minors in On-Campus Programs Guidelines as it applies to our event.

In-Person Event Participation

  1. In-Person Event Registration. See below for details. 
     
    Only one (1) designee from each school should submit the . In order to submit this form, the designee from your school will need:   
    1. Supervisor of Minors Required Documentation 
      1. A completed for each teacher, administrator, staff member or designated chaperone attending the UofM Language Fair in an official capacity.  Required documentation includes: 
      2. Acknowledgement of the following two UofM policies: 
        1. Participation of Minors in On-Campus Programs Guidelines
        2. UofM Language Fair Incident and Injury Report Policy
           
  2. In-Person Student Participant Headcount by Event 
     
    The number of students participating in the following events in-person on the day of the Language Fair: 
      1. Costumes (all languages combined) 
      2. Crafts (divided by language) 
      3. Culture Bowl (all languages combined) 
      4. Greek and Roman History and Mythology Quiz (all languages combined) 
      5. Dance – World (all languages combined, excluding Spanish) 
      6. Dance – Hispanic (only participants from Spanish classes) 
      7. Music – Group (divided by language) 
      8. Music – Solo (divided by language) 
      9. Poetry Recitation (divided by language and level)  
      10. Research Project (divided by language) 
      11. Speech – Foreign Language (divided by language and level)
      12. Speech – Heritage/Native Speaker (divided by language and level)
      13. Vocabulary Quizzes (divided by language and level) 
         
  3. A List of Students Attending in Person 
     
    A list of students attending the Language Fair in person must also be provided via email to flfair@memphis.edu by no later than Friday, March 28, 2025. Click here to access a template for this list. Each student on the list must have a completed In-Person Student Form (.pdf OR .doc).
     
     
  4. In-Person Student Participation Form
     
    Each student participating in person on the day of the Language Fair must have a complete In-Person Student Form (.pdf OR .doc). These must be collected and delivered (physically at the Registration Table or via email to flfair@memphis.edu) by an official designee from your school to the UofM Language Fair staff on the day of the event, Saturday, March 29, 2025. No students may participate in in-person events without these forms completed and signed by a legal guardian. 
     
     
  5. Event Registration Fee 

An $8 flat fee is required for each student participating in the UofM Language Fair events no matter how many events and regardless of whether the event is online or in person. You can pay via credit card or check by completing the .
