Schauss Receives Assisi Foundation Distinguished Professorship
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Dr. Eraina Schauss was recently honored by the Assisi Foundation of Memphis with a
Distinguished Professorship.
The Assisi Foundation partners with local nonprofits in the Mid-South to address challenges and improve quality of life. Their partnership with Schauss stems from UofM鈥檚 BRAIN Center and her program Hurt2Healing, which Schauss helped found in 2017 with colleagues at UofM, and she said she is thankful for the foundation鈥檚 support.
鈥淭his program is providing critical mental health services to pediatric trauma patients and their families at Le Bonheur Children鈥檚 Hospital,鈥� Schauss said. 鈥淚 am honored to be the recipient of the Distinguished Professorship. We are so excited to expand our program with hospital partners across Tennessee.鈥�
Since 2021, according to Schauss, the BRAIN Center has provided over 4,500 mental health assessments and counseling services to 3,300 patients and their caregivers. These assessments and services are performed by students within UofM鈥檚 counseling program within the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology & Research, where Schauss is an associate professor.
