The Financial Aid Office administers federal, state and institutional aid programs to qualified students. To receive financial aid, qualified students must complete the . U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents and qualifying non-citizens are eligible for federal financial aid.

Do not wait to hear about your admissions status to file the FAFSA! Early submission is important.
You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) electronically if you provided an email address on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A paper SAR will be mailed to you in 2 weeks if no email was provided.
Be prepared to submit additional information if requested on your account under the ACCOUNT$ tab.
CHECK OFTEN FOR MISSING REQUIREMENTS!
Your Financial Aid information will be reviewed for a financial aid award or non-award decision upon receipt of ALL required documents and admission to the University.
If awarded, the aid information will be posted on the portal.
NOTE: Separate financial aid awards are processed for Summer semester. If you will require aid for the Summer semester, complete a Summer Update Form located on the Financial Aid Forms page (available in early April each year).
NOTE: All correspondence regarding the status of your financial aid is e-mailed to your University of Memphis e-mail address (or, if not yet admitted, the e-mail address you provided on your FAFSA). The Financial Aid Office no longer mails out award notifications. If you have any questions regarding the status of your aid application, check .
Common Mistakes When Applying for Financial Aid
- Required items or sections are left blank on the FAFSA.
- Signature is missing on the FAFSA.
- Students selected for 'verification' are required to submit a copy of their and/or their parent's tax return transcript to the Student Financial Aid Office. The 1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040 are no longer acceptable documents for the verification process.
- Items, sections, or signatures are left blank on the verification or worksheet form.
How to Accept/Decline Your Award Offer(s)
- Log on to your account
- Click on the Account$ tab
- Scroll down, then click on the Financial Aid Awards link
- NOTE: If you do not have this link/"channel", call the ITS Help Desk at 901.678.8888.
- Select the Aid Year, then Submit
- Read the information under the General Information tab (note that the Accept Award Offer tab is not yet clickable/activated)
- Click on the Terms and Conditions tab, then scroll down to 'Accept' (the Terms and Conditions)
- Click on the Accept Award Offer tab, then scroll down
- Click on the drop down box next to your award OFFER and select an option.
