During the discussion, Dean Joshi shared ways in which the SPH can serve as a valuable resource to the Sheriff's Office, particularly its jail and law enforcement bureaus, through the School’s Experiential Learning Program. The program provides opportunities for students to engage directly with public service agencies, supporting data-driven strategies, public health interventions, and community-based initiatives that can improve outcomes in correctional health and law enforcement settings.
The meeting marks the beginning of a collaborative effort between the School of Public Health and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to address public health challenges and improve services across the region.
