UofM to host Second Annual Day of Giving Event April 5-6
March 30, 2022 鈥 The UofM will host its second annual Day of Giving, a 24-hour, University-wide giving event from noon on April 5 to noon on April 6. The campaign, 鈥淒riven by Giving,鈥 is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to show their support for UofM students.
鈥淒ay of Giving is a moment for the Tiger Community to come together to observe the power of collective giving and partnerships,鈥 said Joanna Curtis, vice president of University Advancement. 鈥淲e are excited to celebrate this momentous day and build on the success of last year鈥檚 event to create a new Tiger tradition of giving back to support our students, faculty and transformational University programs.鈥
The goal of this year鈥檚 event is to surpass 1,500 donors. Supporters can allocate gifts to the areas they are most passionate about at the UofM, from student scholarships to colleges and department programs.
鈥淲e want alumni and friends to know that no matter what they give, each gift helps us reach our participation goal of 1,500 donors,鈥 said Jack Callahan, development officer and event organizer. 鈥淓ven those who can鈥檛 give a monetary donation can make a difference by sharing on social media and helping us spread the word. One like, share or follow can help us reach our goal.鈥
Throughout the day, there will be exciting challenges and interactive virtual elements to help supporters stay engaged. The 鈥淭iger Nation Challenge鈥 will turn a map of the United States 鈥淭iger Blue鈥 when donations are secured from each of the 50 states. Other initiatives include an Alumni Decade Leaderboard to highlight the decade of alumni who bring in the most donations and a donor wall highlighting individual gifts as they are received.
The inaugural Day of Giving event was held in April 2021 and raised more than $220,000 from nearly 1,000 donors. To learn more about the Driven by Giving campaign or to make a gift, visit .
