The UofM's Center for Information Assurance (CfIA) was recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research (CAE-R) on April 9 at the 2025 CAE in Cybersecurity Community Symposium in Charleston, SC.
The National Security Agency's CAE-R designation will be valid through the academic year 2029 and will help UofM faculty to apply for federal grants related to Cyber AI.
Center Director Prof. Dipankar Dasgupta (left) and Associate Director Prof. Myounggyu Won attended the ceremony, where they also received the 2025 CAE-CD Top CLARK Contributors Award. At the event, Prof. Dasgupta also organized and moderated a well-attended interactive panel session on "Security issues of Generic LLMs" with expert panelists from different CAE-R institutes.
