Tim McCuddy
Associate Professor
Dr. Tim McCuddy is an incoming Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology. He received his PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 2018. He is a faculty affiliate of the Urban Affairs PhD program, the Memphis Applied Research and Community Action (MARCA) Institute, and the Center for the Advancement of Youth Development.
Dr. McCuddy’s research focuses on the causes of youth crime and deviance by examining how schools, neighborhoods, and the Internet impact offending and victimization. He specializes in the implications of digital communication for delinquency, peer influence, school safety, and community crime prevention. He aims to support prevention and intervention efforts to keep youth safe and address the consequences of exposure to crime and violence.
Dr. McCuddy is the recipient of the 2023 Michael K. Harless Faculty Excellence Award, the 2023 Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence, and the 2024 Graduate Student Association Mentor Award.
