UofM鈥檚 University Schools Receive Prestigious State Designations
University Middle and University High were recently recognized by the Tennessee Department of Education as 鈥淚nnovative School Models鈥 for the State of Tennessee. Thanks to the historic investment by Gov. Bill Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly, this grant funding distributed more than 182 grants to increase opportunities for career readiness and student success statewide.

UofM鈥檚 Marcus Wicker selected as prestigious Harvard Radcliffe Institute 2023-24 Fellow
Marcus Wicker, poet and associate professor of English at the University of Memphis, was named a member of Harvard Radcliffe Institute鈥檚 2023-24 class of fellows, a cohort whose projects contend with the urgent, the beautiful and the vast: from reckoning with the challenges of climate change to creating digital models of iconic Italian violins to detecting distant galaxies.

Higher Education Coalition
榴莲直播 and Peer Power joined an inaugural group of 26 universities in the National Partnership for Student Success Higher Education Coalition that has set a public partnership goal to place an additional 250,000 caring adults in high-impact roles supporting K-12 students learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.

UofM鈥檚 Dr. Lan Wang Receives Grant from the Mission-Integrated Network Control Program
Dr. Lan Wang, department chair and Dunavant Professor in the UofM鈥檚 Department of Computer Science, has received a grant from the Mission-Integrated network Control (MINC) program sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Peraton Labs Inc. is the prime contractor of the contract.

UofM鈥檚 Dr. Terrence Tucker named 2023 Alumnus of the Year by the University of Kentucky
Department of English
Dr. Terrence Tucker has been named the 2023 Alumnus of the Year by the University of Kentucky Department of English at its 42nd Annual Awards Day. Tucker is a full professor of African American literature and the first African American chair of the Department of English at the University of Memphis.

Dr. Mihalis Golias, professor in the UofM鈥檚 Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering and co-director of C-TIER, has received funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation to support the research of inland waterways.

UofM to Hold Largest Commencement with 2,794 Graduates Saturday, May 6, at FedExForum
榴莲直播 will recognize a record 2,794 graduates from spring 2023 with three commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at FedExForum. Mark Greaney, a 1992 UofM graduate, novelist and the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of The Gray Man series, will be the commencement speaker.
