About Sarah Warren
Dr. Warren is a public health audiologist and has been a faculty member since 2017.
She earned her B.A. in Music from the University of Central Arkansas (2008), her Doctor
of Audiology (Au.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences (2014 and 2017), and her
Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from the University of Memphis (2021).
As the director of the Cochlear Implant Research Lab, Dr. Warren leads research focused on improving hearing healthcare access and outcomes. She also serves as the Team Lead for The Memphis SOUND Project, a community-based initiative dedicated to advancing hearing healthcare equity in underserved communities.
Dr. Warren is a strong advocate for integrating public health principles into audiology,
speech-language pathology, and communication sciences. She was part of the team that
coined the term Communication Public Health to promote the intersection of
communication disorders and public health, shaping how the field approaches population
level communication health. She oversees the dual Au.D./M.P.H. degree track and the
Graduate Certificate in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Public Health.
She teaches courses in Implant Device Technology, Pediatric Audiology, Audiological
Concepts, and Communication and Public Health.
