About Dr. Graham

Dr. Allyson Graham is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Comprehensive Exam in the Counseling Program in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research. Previously, she earned a master’s degree in Counseling with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health from Xavier University of Louisiana. She later received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from North Carolina A&T State University, with additional training in Rehabilitation Counseling. Dr. Graham has a variety of clinical experiences, including providing counseling services to college students, serving as an inpatient treatment counselor to clients in the early stages of recovery from various substance use addictions, assessing unhoused clients, and working as a team member with other clinicians in a private practice setting providing care to clients who have various DSM disorders. Her primary research interests include professional development in counselor education, community storytelling, community well-being, the acculturation of Black college and graduate students, and training for clinicians working in the addiction space.

Dr. Graham has presented at many national conferences, including the NBCC Bridging the Gap Symposium, Black Mental Health Symposium, SACES, ACES, and CSJ conferences. Additionally, she is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina.
